The Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services Board of Directors, in accordance with the cooperative bylaws, will be appointing an individual to fill the vacancy for director from district 5 previously held by Lonnie Feuerhelm.

The cooperative bylaws state that a vacancy in the office of director shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining directors and the director thus elected shall serve until the next annual meeting of the members or until his or her successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified.

The board asks that qualified members from district 5 interested in being considered for this appointment contact Charity Lubich at the cooperative headquarters and request an application form and information packet no later than August 10, 2018. For consideration, the board requests that the application and biographical forms be returned no later than Friday, August 24, 2018.

In brief, the bylaws state qualifications as follows:

A director must be a bona fide resident on premises in that district (s)he represents and must be served directly by this cooperative at those premises.

Not qualifying. A member does not qualify if the member or the member’s spouse has been employed by this cooperative at anytime within the prior five (5) years, or if the member or the member’s spouse is in any way employed by or financially interested in:

1.         A competing enterprise, or

2.         A business selling electric energy, services or supplies to the cooperative,

or if the member or the member’s spouse has pursued any claim or litigation against the cooperative or any of its employees or directors at anytime in the five years preceding his or her election or appointment, or has been delinquent on any obligation owed the Cooperative for more than 60 days at anytime during that same period, or if the member has been convicted of a felony or of any other offense involving a breach of trust unless the sentence including any period of probation or parole was completed more than five years preceding nomination or election to the board.

The board of directors will review the applications at the September 6, 2018 board meeting and plan to interview prospective candidates the evening of October 4, 2018 prior to the regular monthly board meeting.
