Steve and Sherry Marson are Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner for the third quarter of 2021. The Marsons received the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on Thursday, July 29 for their hard work and dedication in restoring trails for the Ellsworth community to enjoy.

Steve and Sherry are active members of Ellsworth Trails, which is a group who inspires outdoor recreation in the community by creating safe and multipurpose trails. The first project began at Cairns Woods, but with winter logging destroying a high percentage of the group’s hard work from last summer and COVID shutting down community workdays, it was a challenge to continue working on the trails. But that did not stop Steve and Sherry’s diligence. The Marsons put in many hours this spring to clear the trails on their own. The Marsons believe as more community members see the beauty of the Cairns Woods and its amazing trails, they too will fall in love with it.

In nominating the Marsons for this award, Kim Beebe said, “Steve and Sherry’s faith in and commitment to the community perfectly exemplifies the intention behind the Live Better Community Service Award.”

“We believe everyone needs nature therapy,” said Steve and Sherry. “We wanted a safe, quiet place within the village for families and children to be in nature to enjoy the quiet spaces.”

Congratulations, Steve and Sherry, and thank you for all your passion and hard work!
