Trees & Power Lines
Vegetation management program
Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) strives to ensure safe, reliable electric service with as little effect on our landscape as possible. Trees interfering with power lines can cause outages and fires, slow maintenance and repairs, endanger lives and property, and even waste energy. Through its Vegetation Management program, PPCS works to make sure power lines and other utility structures have proper clearance from trees, shrubs and brush.
PPCS’ Vegetation Management program controls trees, shrubs and brush growing around our facilities and equipment on a five to six year rotation.
Detailed information about our Vegetation Management program is available in our Trees and Power Lines brochure using the link below. Suggested planting distances for trees and shrubs are listed in our Line Clearance Tree Chart.

Before you dig…
Call Digger’s Hotline at 1-800-242-8511 or Email-A-Locate at least three business days before you dig for the exact location of electric lines and other utility services buried underground. NOTE: Digger's Hotline does not locate propane gas lines. You must contact your propane supplier to request this service.
